Date Night

dinner and a movie
netflix just delivered the green lantern and we had two nice angus ribeye steaks in the fridge. since the weather broke this afternoon, we decided we'd fire up the grill and have a nice date night! :-)

we had dinner is less than 30 minutes, here's how:

2 steaks, seasoned with sea salt and pampered chef smokey applewood rub
fresh steamed broccoli
frozen southwest style sweet potatoes with corn and black beans
fresh french bread

so i seasoned the steaks and nick grilled them. he's still working on perfecting beef, but they were pretty good. while nick grilled, i baked the bread ($0.99 special; take and bake at kroger); steamed the broccoli; and heated up the frozen side dish. if you haven't tried the alexia frozen items yet, check them out. they are not any more expensive than other brands and they are all natural and come in some great flavors. they also make the chipolte flavored sweet potato fries i love!

dinner was perfect, the green lantern was not too shabby. all in all, a wonderful thursday night with my husband and cute little pup.

Branching Out...

so, i finally took the plunge and have decided to start selling pampered chef! i own and love so much of their stuff and have been having parties about once per year for as long as i can remember. i'm really excited about this and wanted to share with all my friends & family!

as a result, i will be (hopefully) blogging more about food!

so...with that said, i was testing a new recipe tonight, practicing for my first show (thanks jess). we decided to try out the new Chicago style hot dog bites. the recipe is available in the season's best recipe book right now, but here's a sneak peak (8 ingredients; 30 minutes or less, delicious appetizer). if you'd like the recipe, give me a shout or stop by one of my upcoming open houses (April 22nd or 24th).
